Production costs

All expenses related to the creation and completion of a film. This includes salaries for the cast and crew, equipment rental, set design, costumes, special effects, etc.

This stage involves the main shooting and the work of the entire crew on set. It is the period of filming the movie using the concepts and plans from the pre-production phase. At this stage, all creators and the entire film crew, including actors, technical crew, director, and producers, are involved. It encompasses work aimed at ensuring that all elements of the film are appropriately executed according to the script's objectives and the director's vision.

The period starting after the completion of filming for the movie. The creative team responsible for post-production begins work on tasks such as editing, sound post-production, and special effects. This is a crucial stage that enables the creation of the final version of the film, ready for distribution.

The time of intense work that enables entering the film set. It includes planning and refining necessary elements before the actual production begins, such as prop making, costume design, camera tests, working with actors. At this stage, there is often a return to script revisions as well.

The initial stage of production involves tasks such as writing the script, casting, budgeting, scheduling production, location scouting, special effects planning, set design, costume design, and many similar activities. During this time, actions and decisions are taken to create the main vision of the film.

This is the stage that follows post-production and involves final tweaks, refinements, and preparations before the film's premiere or distribution. During this time, a final inspection is carried out with the distributor, known as the film's acceptance in its final version, closing the film's settlement and all formalities. Promotional activities such as interviews with actors, creators, and ambassadors are also planned. The final work on the film aims to achieve the ultimate quality and coherence of the film and prepare it for distribution.

Marketing Expenses

Marketing expenses aim to attract viewers and increase interest in the production. They are a very important part of any film project because even the best film needs an effective marketing strategy to achieve commercial success. The established amount is a standard sum for the film industry in Poland.

Creating copies of the film and trailer copies to be distributed to cinemas. These costs also include distribution fees (coordination) and those related to file protection.

Cost of production and distribution of promotional materials, including film materials, video and audio, internet and interactive materials, graphic materials (print/files)(these are the costs of creating materials used for advertising).

Cost of film advertising (media) and PR activities, including online, TV and radio advertising, outdoor, cinema, press, PR costs and press conferences, gala premiere and special screenings, unconventional advertising, and other forms (these are the costs of implementing and coordinating activities).

Additional PR and marketing activities parallel to the distributor's actions, aimed at strengthening the promotion of the film already at the initial production stage.

Planned income

When creating a commercial film, we plan the sales strategy from the outset. Below, you'll find several avenues through which profit is generated from production both domestically in Poland and abroad.

The revenue obtained from ticket sales for cinema screenings. Several factors influence their size, including the film's success in cinemas, ticket prices, the number of cinemas showing the film, and the screening period. The amount from this source is reduced by distribution costs (distributor's commission, cinema fees, etc.).

Revenue from licensing agreements made with streaming platforms in exchange for providing content on them. Unlike traditional cinemas, where viewers pay for individual tickets, streaming platforms operate on a subscription-based or pay-per-view basis for specific content.

Pay TV (Pay Television) – revenue received from paid television operators for providing content on their platforms. Pay TV includes cable television, satellite television, and IPTV platforms that offer channels and content for a subscription fee.

Free TV (Free-to-air Television) – revenue received for providing content on free-to-air television channels (those available to viewers without additional subscription fees or payments for access to specific content).

TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand) and any other on-demand forms – refer to revenues obtained from subscription platforms. In this option, a selected item can be viewed for a specific time for a one-time fee.

All other areas of film exhibition, such as airing on airlines or in hotel networks.

The order of return on investment

According to the principles of the film market, the first revenues generated from the exploitation of the film are allocated to cover the costs of its financing, distribution, and promotion. By investing money in film production, you become part of the "Private and institutional investors" group. Below is the order in which investment contributions will be returned.

The budget allocated for film promotion, advertising, and distribution. This is a key component of the marketing strategy aimed at capturing the attention of potential viewers and maximizing revenue from its distribution.

The type of financial agreement made between a film distributor and the film producer. It involves an amount that the distributor commits to pay to the film production for a portion of the distribution rights in a specified geographic area and on specified platforms. The minimum guarantee thus becomes part of the film's financing. Under this agreement, the MG amount is returned to the distributor as a priority before other entities participating in the investment.

A distributor is a company responsible for distributing a film in the market. Its main goal is to maximize profits by selling rights to screen the film in various formats and on various platforms, such as cinemas, television, streaming platforms, DVD, etc. Distribution fees are charges levied by film distributors for services related to introducing films to cinemas, streaming platforms, or other media. They can include both fixed percentage fees on ticket sales or subscription revenues and one-time fees for film promotion, marketing, or distribution in specific markets.

Financial resources allocated to cover any potential shortfall in the film production budget. This fund can be established by various entities, including investment funds, financial institutions, production groups, or even individual investors. Its potential size for projects like "Cassandra's Head" does not exceed 10-15%.

Investors (individuals and investment groups) who invest financial resources in film production. Investors contribute to the project and, in case of profit, participate in its distribution. By contributing money to the fundraising, you become one of the investors.

Invest

Profit sharing

After covering all the above-mentioned costs, including returning 100% of the investor's investment, the production will begin to generate profits. The profit sharing will be as follows: 50% for the investors and 50% for the creators, actors, partners, distributors, co-producers, production company, and other entitled entities.

Share of profit for private and institutional investors. Paid with equal priority in proportion to the amount of the Investment Contribution remaining to the final Film Budget Amount.

Share of profit for other entities participating in profits divided based on agreements with creators, actors, partners, distributors, co-producers, the production company, and other entitled entities.
